Password Protected Directories
Learn more on password-protected directories and what they bring to your site.
A password-protected directory or area is a folder which could be accessed only if a username and a password are entered, so no unauthorized people can observe its content. This option may be used for the main folder of a particular website or just for a certain subfolder in accordance with your needs. For example, when you are building a new website and you do not want people to see it prior to it being 100% ready, you should prohibit the access to it as a whole, while if you want only some people to be able to access certain files, you could password-protect only a specific folder, while the other parts of the website could be seen by anyone. Either way, a “403 Forbidden” error page will appear if the login details the visitor types in aren't right. Even a direct link to a file will not work provided any folder above it is password-protected.

Password Protected Directories in Cloud Web Hosting
All our
cloud web hosting include a very useful tool which will permit you to secure any folder within your account from unauthorized access with just two mouse clicks. As soon as you log in to your Hepsia hosting Control Panel, you will simply have to go to the Password Protection section, to choose the main domain or subdomain, to specify the folder that should be protected - the root folder or some folder under it, and then to input the username and the password which have to be used in order to access the content in question. The function shall be activated straightaway, so in case you make an effort to open the folder/website, you will be prompted to enter the login details. You may create or remove a number of usernames for the same folder, if required. When you check out the File Manager section, all password-protected folders will be shown with a compact padlock icon.
